Pile of the Week – Yet Another Trike
As near as I can tell, someone destroyed a Karman Gia and a Yamaha XS650 in order to make this. The only cool thing is how the halves of the Gia come together in the middle to form a kind of fighter plane bubble cockpit.
Does it look like the steering head from the bike was just welded to a hunk of scrap I-beam? Also, whomever started the build must have passed out from the paint fumes/beer/moonshine before coming up with anyway to steer this bitch.
If you don’t have anything nice to say, you aren’t supposed to say anything, so… Hey, free trailer!
From the ad: “Up for sale is a Trike project. The donor car is a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia. It is titled as a 1984 Yamaha as that is the motorcycle front end. The Karmann Ghia was cut down the center and 2’ of the center of the car was removed. I bought this project from a guy in Texas 2 years ago with the intention of finishing it. I have not found the time and am therefore selling it. I have a clear Texas title in hand, signed by the original owner. If you are looking for a head turning, conversation piece and have the ability to take someone’s concept to completion this is for you. You get everything you see in the pictures. The Trike, trailer, all used parts, and all of the new parts.
The new parts that go with it, retail for $ 3,000.00 alone. The trailer is worth about $ 1,000.00. At the price I am listing it, you would get the trike, engine, and all used parts for free!! I have more than my asking price invested. Make me a reasonable offer (In other words, don’t be stupid, I’m not going to give it away) and its yours.”
You really have to feel for this guy, for some reason he bought this 2 years ago from the original Dr. Frankenstein, and dragged it from Texas to Ohio. eBay told me on an earlier link “Seller has relisted this item, or another one like it.” Fat chance eBay, there are none other like this anywhere.
