Ventura Nationals 2024 with a Kodak Brownie Camera
Something I have been doing for a few years is shooting with vintage cameras. These were taken with a Kodak Brownie “Hawkeye” (I think) on 620 film. I found if I tried to shoot the world and events with my phone or a digital camera I would spend all day taking pictures. Having 12 or 24 shots to work with allows me to enjoy the show and make hard decisions about what to shoot and what not to. Recently I have been trying to shoot more with people and models, and the combination of old car, old camera, and models dressed in period appropriate outfits really works. Lava L’Amour (not sure I am spelling that right) was just someone who happened to be at the show whom I cajoled into posing for me.
