2017 World Police and Fire Games MX – Glen Helen, CA
Who knew that the law enforcement, fire, and other first responders had a worldwide competition every two years that was 5 times bigger than the Winter Olympics? And also, unlike the Summer Olympics, or the Commonwealth Games (the number 1 and 3 international sporting events by number of athletes) the second most popular competition is not prejudiced against motorsports. They recognize, much like the X-games, that the people involved in motocross, and the like are just as much an athlete as a skier or a skater.
This year the police and fire Olympics (as it is often referred to, unofficially) was based around Los Angeles, and LAPD chief Beck raced an international field a the Glen Helen motocross events, and grand prix. Look for my full story at RideApart shortly, but here are the pictures.
