I have been spending a lot of time in the junkyards again, because we have a 24 Hours of Lemons race coming up 3/23-24, and we had a little problem last race. At the Sun Valley home of Jaws I found this slightly toasty Pontiac. If he had bought a Thunderbird all he’d have is […]
Spotted this beautiful old land yacht at the local self serve lot (the one with the last of the Jaws sharks). As near as I can tell it was either someone’s homemade version of the Griswold’s Wagon Queen Family Truckster, or it was made here in Hollywood for a commercial or music video, or something […]
Here’s a picture of a Dodge Intrepid painted up to look like a slice of watermelon. Red and green means its perfect for the holiday season. I admit, I totally found this picture in someone’s twitter feed.
When I first approached this Mercury Sable Wagon in the junk yard I thought it was some sort of clever textured finish applied to it on purpose. On closer examination it either was pulled out of a lake, or was made to look like a car that came out of a lake by a good […]
So I spotted this car recently, and I always check out any car with a custom paint job… On closer inspection this was not the daily driver of some holy roller, but most likely just parked on the side of the road near said Christian Bookstore… Second theory, the owner was only targeting the sinners […]
When I spotted this in the junkyard I just knew the interior would be hiding something great. Sorry Vandurra, quadra-phonic stereo and your custom pirate king’s cabin interior can’t keep the crusher from reclaiming your steel. Maybe if there was a sea serpent painted on the side…
The other day I showed you the wrecked wedding limo, well this one was a few rows over. Seems like this one never made it out of the custom paint shop. Maybe some rock star was getting it done up and then their record deal fell apart? It was shaping up to be a nice […]
So we all do a little drinking at wedding receptions, and sometimes even before the wedding itself. Especially if its your wedding. The driver of this limo may have had a few too. I checked, there were no bridesmaids left in the back, or booze, but there were several dried flower arraignments. I seriously think […]
So I had to go out to Rialto to pick up a limited slip diff for the 24 Hours of Lemons car, so I stopped at the Ecology Auto Wrecking out there. It’s not unusual to spot a late 70s last generation Ford Ranchero in a Southern California yard, but here was a first generation 1958.How […]
Saw these two on the 405 freeway in West Los Angeles last week. Sadly the flat bead carrying them belongs to a do it yourself junkyard. So instead of the start to some oddball GM rear engined 24 Hours of Lemons racecar, its the end of the line for them.
